Keynote speakersNuno Garoupa is Professor of Law and Faculty Director of Graduate Studies, and former Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development (2018-2023), George Mason University, Antonin Scalia Law School. Previously, he taught at Texas A&M University School of Law (2015-2018) and University of Illinois College of Law (2007-2015). He has a long established research interest in the economics of law and legal institutions, empirical legal studies, and comparative judicial politics. Professor Garoupa is the current President of the European Association of Law and Economics (2023-2026). In the past, he notably served as Member of the Executive Board of the American Society for Comparative Law (2021-2023), President of the Spanish Association of Law and Economics (2017-2021) and as co-editor of the Review of Law and Economics (2004-2010), International Review of Law and Economics (2012-2020). He was awarded the Spanish Julián Marías Research Prize (2010).
Roberto Galbiati is a CNRS Senior Researcher (DR). He is also a CEPR Research Fellow (Political Economy program). His primary research interests are law and economics, political economy and applied microeconomics. He has studied extensively how laws and individual motivations affect cooperative behavior and compliance, the effects of law enforcement on illegal behavior and the emergence and stability of legal and political institutions. Roberto Galbiati has published extensively both in economics journals and in interdisciplinary outlets. He has served as editor of Economic Policy and associate editor of the International Review of Law and Economics. Prior to joining the Department of Economics at Sciences Po, Roberto Galbiati was a CNRS Researcher at the University of Paris-Ouest (Nanterre) and a Lecturer at Bocconi. Roberto Galbiati holds a PhD from the University of Siena and a Laurea from the University Bocconi. |
